Linkly Cloud

Pair a terminal with the till.

A terminal pairs once with the code it shows on screen. After that every card sale on that till goes straight to it, and nobody picks a terminal again. Ten steps, a few minutes, done from the keypad and one screen in Venuboost.

Before you start

  • A Linkly terminal, supplied by your bank or terminal provider and set up for Linkly Cloud.
  • Your Linkly username and password, which Linkly email when the Cloud account is opened.
  • Wi-fi or a network cable. Either works, and the terminal reaches Linkly the same way on both.
  • Manager access, because pairing changes how the venue takes money.

The steps

Terminal first, then the till.

Have Venuboost open before you generate the pairing code. Linkly give that code three minutes. If the terminal is already set up for Cloud, start at step six.

On the terminal

  1. 1

    Open terminal setup

Press FUNC then 7410. The terminal shows Terminal Set Up.

  2. 2

    Choose Cloud

    Select Begin, then Cloud Comms.

  3. 3

    Join the network

On wi-fi, press Setup Wi-Fi and join the venue network. On a cable, plug the Ethernet cable in and carry on.

  4. 4

    Let it test the line

The terminal checks the connection and says the Cloud terminal setup has been completed. Press OK.

  5. 5

    Go to pairing

Press Cancel to carry on, then Enter when it offers to generate a pairing code.

  6. 6

    Read the six digit code

The terminal shows it on screen, and it lasts three minutes, so go to Venuboost now. A terminal that has been paired before, or whose Linkly password has changed, starts here instead: press FUNC then 8880 to generate a code without running the setup again.

In Venuboost

  1. 7

    Open the payments screen

Settings, then Payments and terminals, then Linkly.

  2. 8

    Save the credentials

Type the username and password from the email and save. Once for the venue, not once per terminal.

  3. 9

    Pair the terminal

Press Pair a terminal, type the six digit code, give it a name staff will recognise such as Front counter, and choose the counter it stands on.

  4. 10

Point the till at that counter

On the computer or tablet at that counter, attach it to the same counter. The terminal now answers every card sale on that till.

Venuboost signs the terminal on to the bank as it pairs, so the first sale of the day is not the moment anyone finds out it never logged on.

If something is not right

The things that catch people.

The pairing code was refused

Codes last three minutes. Generate a new one and type it straight in. If it is still refused, check the username and password against the email from Linkly.

The terminal says it is waiting for a client

It is set up for a cabled EFT-Client on the venue network rather than for Linkly Cloud. Run the terminal setup again and choose Cloud Comms.

The till asks you to attach the computer to a counter

Either this computer is not attached to a counter, or the counter it is attached to has no terminal on it. Check both under Settings, Stations and devices.

The terminal shows as not answering

Press Check it beside the terminal in Venuboost. If it still does not answer, confirm the terminal is powered and on the network, then press Sign on to the bank.

You need to move a terminal to another counter

Change the counter on the terminal under Settings, Payments and terminals. A terminal belongs to one counter and a counter holds one terminal, so choosing a new counter takes it off the old one. The terminal does not need pairing again.

Your terminal and the bank account behind it come from your bank, so faults with the terminal itself go to them or to Linkly support. Anything on the Venuboost side, ask us.
