Karting

Race control that
catches it first.

The grid is checked before it is armed. Waivers, payments, karts and transponders are all verified in one pass, and anything a marshal would have found on the dummy grid is on the screen instead. A manager can override any of it with a PIN, and the override is recorded with a reason.

Before the green

Grid clearance, one pass

Race control runs the checks a person would run if they had the time, then shows exactly which seat is holding the race up. Clear it, or override it and get on with the day.

  • Every seat checked for waiver, payment, kart and transponder
  • Blocking issues stop the arm, soft issues warn
  • Manager PIN override with the reason stored against the race
  • The whole check takes one screen, not four
Grid clearance
  • Kart 4, waiver not signed, blocking
  • Kart 9, seat unpaid, blocking
  • Kart 12, transponder unmapped, blocking

During the race

Live timing on the wall

Positions move as the laps land, the fastest lap of the session lights up, and the board reads from across the room. Timing runs on the venue machine, so a dropped connection does not drop a lap.

  • Positions reorder in place as crossings arrive
  • Fastest lap of the session highlighted
  • Flags drive the tower and kart speed together
  • Laps written to disk before anything else happens

After the flag

Results while they are still buzzing

Race results print at the counter as the drivers walk off, and the same result goes to the screens as a full page slide. Fastest lap, podium, next up. It is the part guests photograph.

  • Result slides sized for a television, readable across the foyer
  • Fastest lap board for the day and for the session
  • Next up so groups know when they are called
  • Printed results at the counter without anyone pressing print

The checks

Four things that ruin a heat, caught in advance.

Waiver missing

A seat with nobody signed against it is flagged before the grid arms, with the guest named so the counter can fix it in seconds.

Seat unpaid

Anyone still owing shows against their kart. Race control will not arm on an unpaid grid unless a manager says so.

Kart not ready

A kart with no transponder mapped, or one sitting in maintenance, cannot be assigned to a driver by accident.

Driver in two places

The same person on two grids in the same window is caught before the marshals find out on the dummy grid.

Beyond the heat

Leagues, points and a fleet that gets looked after.

Points and series

Award points per stage, roll them into a series and publish standings that update as heats finish.

Stages and formats

Qualifying, heat, final. Each stage carries its own scoring, lead in time and run time, so a format is set once and reused.

Kart fleet

Transponder mapping, hours on each kart, maintenance state and a kart that cannot be assigned while it is in the workshop.
